DEVELOPING STORY: Georgia’s mascot UGA X has been released from Hospital after heartworm scare

Athens, GA- An early morning walk lead to an emergency helicopter flight to an undisclosed Animal Hospital for Georgia’s Mascot UGA X. Handlers noticed four unidentified mosquitos flying near the dog’s face, ears and tail at approximately 7:44 am this morning. He was immediately taken to a secure building where he was then transported by a Life Flight Chopper to be tested for heartworms.

All test came back negative. A spokesman said there were no apparent bites to the dog from the four mosquitos and that the transport was more of a precautionary measure.The Georgia Department of Mosquito Apprehension is currently conducting a state wide search for the four mosquitos in question for possible testing and observation. The mosquitos are all described as average size, grey in color with a silver tint near their wings. The spokesman went on to say that UGA was unphased by the incident and was in a frisky, playful mood after the ordeal.
