Birmingham, ALA- The debate continues on players wanting to play games without wearing helmets for facial recognition and personal branding. Tucker Tuckerson the attorney who is representing some one hundred players says “These players should not be forced to wear helmets if they don’t want to.The NCAA is making hundreds of millions of dollars from these unpaid student athletes annually.
These players feel that by being mandated to wear a helmet, it reduces their marketability for when they become professional football players because nobody will know what they look like due to the fact that a helmet and face mask covers up their faces. “Yes we know the safety concerns that are involved in this decision however I feel it’s unconstitutional to force a player to wear a helmet. If a player is willing to sign a waiver and play without a helmet, he should clearly be able to exercise that right. Some of these players are very handsome but companies will not know that if they are wearing a helmet and face mask.” added Tuckerson.
