Gainsville FL (FP)- The University of Florida’s Brand Management Committee is proposing for the Gator Football program to adopt a live Alligator as the team’s mascot to generate even more excitement as part of the Dan Mullen era. The alligator being considered is a nine foot female gator named Barbara that’s currently living in a Mississippi refuge.
The official proposal states that the gator would be part of a new pregame team entrance which includes the gator being trained to run simultaneously next to players as part of pregame festivities.
The gator would be fitted with a specially designed Florida T-shirt and possibly pants, the proposal indicated. Several animal rights organizations plan to protest this proposal if approved.
